Project – New Cupola for Maryhill Burgh Hall
Historic Cupola Replacement takes shape!
We were approached by Graham Construction, the Principal Contractor in the restoration of Maryhill Burgh Hall to design and build a lead-covered timber, octagonal cupola featuring an air vent topped with a landmark weather vane. All we had to go on for the design was the drawing you see below. This is an exact replica of the one that was removed for safety reasons in the 1970s.
This was a wonderful opportunity to show what Hutton & Read is capable of as well as displaying the ingenuity and skills of our craftsmen.
The cupola was successfully installed in January 2011. Watch the videos below, or click here to see a clip from STV News on YouTube.
